Tucson Firefighters Conduct Training on UA Campus Today

UA campus offers opportunity to train on tall buildings away from high traffic areas.

The Tucson Fire Department is conducting community emergency response training on The University of Arizona campus today.

Three specialized teams are honing their skills, practicing high angle missions that include swift water, structural collapse and confined space rescue training.

They are practicing at the Henry Koffler Building on the UA Mall, because it provides the specialized firefighters with “a tall building or high angle area needed for this type of training that is also out of the way of traffic,” said Captain Trish Tracy an information officer with the Tucson Fire Department.

Last week, the firefighters trained on Mount Lemmon and expect today’s training to last several hours.
