University of Arizona women’s golfer Alison Walshe has been named an All-American by Golfweek magazine.

Walshe, a senior from Westford, Mass., was one of 10 golfers named Wednesday to Golfweek’s first team. This is the second consecutive year that she has earned All-America honors.

Walshe led the Wildcats with a 72.50 stroke average, while 14 of her 34 rounds played were at par or better. Walshe finished the 2007-08 season as the eighth-rated golfer nationally in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index and posted three individual wins in 11 starts and eight top-10 finishes. She had seven rounds in the 60s with a low of 66 this season, and was Arizona’s top finisher in eight of 11 tournament appearances.

Walshe collected six individual wins during her two years in Tucson. She capped her collegiate career last month by finishing with a 4-0 record and helping the United States retain the Curtis Cup.

Her honor is the 51st bestowed on an Arizona player since 1979 and the 24th first-team selection since 1979. Walshe also was named first team All-America by the National Golf Coaches Association.
