Eller College Begins Program Aimed at Companies Expanding Internationally
The three-part program is aimed at small business leaders with global aspirations.
The Eller College of Management's Global Business Program at The University of Arizona and the Arizona U.S. Export Assistance Center have established a joint program, ExporTech, aimed at helping companies enter global markets through the development of customized, vetted, international growth plans.
ExporTech will lead companies through a facilitated process that prepares them for profitable growth in international markets.
Participants will gain an understanding of how exports can be a major growth driver, identify hurdles to expansion, and work with the facilitators to develop a customized export growth plan for their company.
Participants also will work as a group through a process to accelerate the pace and increase the success rate of international sales efforts. The course is customized to the participants' specific learning needs and produces an international growth plan for each company.
Working with experts, company representatives will be able to refine their global strategies. Participating companies will each be assisted by an undergraduate student intern from the Eller College throughout the process.
The program is limited to eight companies in order to provide sufficient time and attention for each company's specific challenges. Participants will come from non-competing organizations, sharing strategic information as the plans are being developed is encouraged.
ExporTech will be presented in cooperation with the Arizona Department of Commerce, the Arizona Manufacturing Extension Partnership and the Arizona Technology Council.
ExporTech is a three-part program scheduled for Sept. 18, Oct. 16 and Nov. 20 at McClelland Hall (1130 E. Helen St.). Registration is $700 per company, and can be completed online at www.buyusa.gov/arizona/events.html.
