Presidential Election Subject of Distinguished Lecture Series Talk

Kate Kenski is an assistant professor in the University of Arizona's communication department.
Kate Kenski, assistant professor in the UA department of communication, will be the Distinguished Lecture Series speaker for October.
The current presidential campaign is the topic for discussion at a lecture that will be held later this month as part a University of Arizona Distinnguished Lecture Series.
Kate Kenski, an assistant professor in the UA's communication department, will speak on "Campaign Dynamics in the 2008 Presidential Election.”
Her talk will be held at noon on Oct. 15 at the Arizona Inn, 2200 E. Elm St. The cost is $35 and includes lunch; seating is limited.
The Distinguished Lecture Series is presented by the UA's College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, the College of Science and the College of Fine Arts.
Lectures are held once a month and, this year, the series is co-sponsored by the Arizona Daily Star and The Presidents Club.
Kenski will present her research on the dynamic forces influencing candidate perception in the 2008 presidential race, particularly related to age, race and gender and how each factor can affect candidate favorability ratings.
Kenski teaches political communication and research methods and statistics in the UA's communication department. Prior to teaching at the UA, she was a senior analyst at the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania, where she helped implement the National Annenberg Election Survey in 2000 and 2004.
She co-authored the book "Capturing Campaign Dynamics: The National Annenberg Election Survey," which was published in 2004 by the Oxford University Press.
Also, the UA will serve as an early polling site for the general election. Voters in any Pima County district may vote on campus through Oct. 31. The polling stations are located in the offices of the Associated Students of the UA on the third floor of the Student Union Memorial Center. Another polling site will be in the UA BookStore.
