Enthusiastically explore the elements of portraiture – facial expression, posture, clothing and background – during this painting workshop. Enjoy looking at museum portraits followed by exercises that engage you in creating your own portrait from a live model. Warm up to basic acrylic techniques – quick paint sketches, under-painting, layering paint and mixing flesh tones.
Instructor Jo Valandry is an artist and educator with an MFA from The University of Arizona and a BFA from the University of South Dakota in studio art and printmaking.
