The University of Arizona is seeking public comment for the proposed Master Land Use Plan for the Arizona Bioscience Park. The park is located at 36th Street and Kino Boulevard.

Two public meetings will be held to solicit comment and input from the general public. The meetings are scheduled for April 1 and April 23.

The Arizona Bioscience Park, or BioPark, comprises 65 acres of land. It is part of a larger, master-planned, mixed-use development known as The Bridges. The Bridges will include a 110-acre regional shopping center and 175 acres of residential development.

As part of The Bridges, the BioPark will provide a community environment in which researchers, students and the surrounding neighborhoods can interact, creating high technology jobs at all educational levels and new educational opportunities with a proposed bioscience high school. A hotel and conference center is also planned in addition to the office and laboratory space.

The BioPark is a necessary link in the commercialization of new technologies as well as development of new companies. It has been identified as a critical component in both the Southern Arizona and Arizona Bioscience Roadmaps.

The UA will present the Master Land Use Plan to the Arizona Board of Regents for approval in June.

The April 1 meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Kiva Room at the UA Student Union Memorial Center, 1303 E. University Boulevard.

The April 23 meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Quincie Douglas Neighborhood Center at 1575 E. 36th St.
