Arizona to Play in First Round of NCAA Tournament on Thursday

Men's Basketball vs. UNLV

The No. 10-seeded Wildcats will take on No. 7 West Virginia in Washington, D.C.

The No. 10-seeded University of Arizona men's basketball team will face No. 7 West Virginia on Thursday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Washington, D.C.

This will be the 24th consecutive tournament appearance for Arizona – the longest active streak in NCAA history – and 27th appearance in the program's history. The UA has a 41-25 (.621) record in its 26 previous NCAA Tournament appearances.

Thursday's game will be the fourth meeting of Arizona and West Virginia, with Arizona holding a 3-1 series advantage. The last time the schools played each other was Dec. 20, 1992.

Since 1985, the Wildcats have played 61 NCAA Tournament games, and only 17 of those had Arizona as the lower seed. The UA has a 7-10 (.412) record in those contests.

A win over West Virginia on Thursday would give Arizona its 20th win of the season. It would also extend Arizona’s streak of consecutive 20-win seasons to 21, which is the longest active streak in the country.
