UA Alum in Trade Delegation to S. Korea

Andy Groseta
Third-generation Arizona rancher Andy Groseta is in Seoul making the case for U.S. beef.
Andy Groseta, the newly elected president of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and a 1972 University of Arizona graduate, was included in a U.S. delegation that attended the Feb. 25 inauguration of South Korean President-elect Lee Myung-bak.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice led the delegation, which included Assistant U.S. Trade Representative Wendy Cutler, William Rhodes, chairman of the U.S.-Korea Business Council, Korean-American football star Hines Ward (2006 Superbowl MVP for the Pittsburgh Steelers), U.S. Forces Korea Commander Burwell Bell and U.S. Ambassador to Seoul Alexander Vershbow.
The delegation was also there to discuss an array of issues, and was expected to make a strong case with Korean officials in support of resolving the U.S.-Korean beef trade issue and passing the U.S.-South Korea Free Trade Agreement. Few know those issues better than Groseta.
Groseta is a third-generation cattle rancher from Cottonwood in Arizona’s Verde Valley, where the family’s W Dart Ranch has been in operation since 1922. Groseta graduated from Mingus Union High School in 1968 and has a bachelor’s degree in agricultural education and animal science and a master’s in agricultural education (in 1978) from the UA. He also is co-owner of Headquarters West Ltd., a statewide company specializing in agricultural real estate and consulting.
Groseta currently is on the executive committee of the Arizona Cattle Growers Association, and in the past was chairman of the NCBA Federal Lands Committee, chairman of Arizona Cattle Growers Association Federal Lands Committee and Arizona’s director of the Public Lands Council.
He also is past president of the Yavapai Cattle Growers Association and is the current chairman of the UA Yavapai County Cooperative Extension Advisory Board and president of the Mingus Union High School Board. Groseta is immediate past chairman of the Catholic Community Foundation.
Groseta and his wife, Mary Beth, were both recognized as Arizona State FFA’s Agriculturist of the Year for 2004.
Their son, Paul, and two daughters, Katy and Anna, are graduates of the UA College of Agriculture and Life Sciences as well.
