PTS Announces 2008-09 Parking Changes

Beginning in August, Parking and Transportation Services will institute changes including new parking areas, fee changes, lot closures and the conversion of some lots from Zone 1 to Lot Specific.
University of Arizona Parking and Transportation Services will institute several changes in August, including fee increases, new parking areas, lot closures and the conversion of some lots from Zone 1 to Lot Specific.
The majority of 2008-2009 permit prices will increase by approximately $2 per month to pay for programs such as CatTran, NightCat, Disability Cart Service, Emergency Ride Home and the Motorist Assist Program, and cover other expenses including lot maintenance, safety specialists, new garage construction and lot lighting.
Beginning in August, surface lot/garage permits will go up $24 per year while motorcycle permits will go up $12 per year and off-campus lot permits will go up $10 per year.
Six new parking lots will open in the fall, including four South of Sixth Street lots, two Zone 1 lots and two Lot Specific areas. Additionally, five major Zone 1 lots will be closed due to construction south of University Boulevard. The remaining Zone 1 lots in that area will be converted to Lot Specific parking areas. A total of 997 parking spaces will be lost during construction.
Beginning March 3, employees registered for automatic permit renewal using payroll deduction will receive an e-mail offering them the opportunity to request a different parking permit and update personal information. Permit holders not using payroll deduction will receive e-mails from PTS beginning March 20. Open permit registration will begin April 15.
