College Knowledge at Your Fingertips

The Office of Early Academic Outreach has organized an event meant to help families and youth figure out ways to prepare and pay for college.

All the college-going information families need will be under one roof.

The University of Arizona is reaching out to families through "College Knowledge for Parents," a program that targets parents of eighth grade students.

The UA Office of Early Academic Outreach’s Feb. 2 program will cover a broad swath of information, including what courses young students need to take to prepare for college, financing, financial aid and scholarships, and other particulars about getting ready for college. It will be held in both English and Spanish.

The award-winning office has been praised for its efforts in improving the numbers of minority, low-income and first-generation students attending the University.

College Knowledge for Parents, which is in its sixth year, is free 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. event will cover the following topics, as well as others:

  • How do colleges choose students?
  • How can students become more competitive?
  • What does the UA have in terms of academic offerings, programs and student services?

The program is highly popular, and so only a limited number of families may be invited to attend. To learn more about the program, or to request an invitation to attend "College Knowledge for Parents," call the Early Academic Outreach office at 520-626-2300.
