College of Science Edges of Life Lecture Series

The UA College of Science presents The Edges of Life Lecture Series – a series of six lectures bringing together perspectives that include biology, medicine, technology and philosophy.

Roy Parker, Regents’ Professor of molecular and cellular biology at the UA and investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, will discuss "Life's Defining Edge: The Origins of Life."

How did life on earth originate? This is one of the great unsolved questions in biology. Cells contain a history of life's origin in the form of molecular fossils that suggest how life might have emerged and evolved. How will our understanding of the origins of life on Earth help us assess the possibility life elsewhere in the universe? Join the UA College of Science as we begin to explore the edges of life.
