In 1936, the Soviet government asked Igor Moiseyev to organize the first Festival of National Dance. The young man, with a deep love of Russian folklore and dance traditions, embraced the challenge. More than seven decades later, this troupe of 80 ballet-trained dancers is world-acclaimed as a result of the vision and genius of its founder and chorographer, portraying on a spectacular scale the folkways of many cultures.
